ABOUT the Project
“This day of CHANGE”
On January 20th, 2009, Barrack Obama became the 44th President of the United States of America. This inauguration of the first African American President marked a CHANGE in history. On that very day, News magazine COURRiER Japon decided to give out an assignment to some of the best photographers around the world, to capture what “HOPE” means to them. From Washington DC to a new-born baby in Palestine, environmental issues, each shared their vision of “HOPE”.
At the end, 132 photographers from 79 different countries participated and submitted their work. A photo-book, “This day of Change” was published by Kodansha in late April 2009.

Artist's Bio:
French/Spanish, Photographer and filmmaker. Christian Poveda's filmography includes over 15 documentaries that have been presented at some of the most prestigious festivals and TV markets worldwide. His political involvement in the Vietnam War allowed him to experience the power of images and the influence they can have over certain events. This is what inspired him to work in photojournalism and documentary filmmaking. His entire filmography is dedicated to extraordinary political and social situations.
