Rainbow Nation #4
FASTWÜRMS
Artist's Statement:
The revolutionary politics of the project can be summed up by a quote from Alice Walker that is featured as one of several signs about animal rights on display at the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada: “The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans any more than black people were made for white, or women created for men.” The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada and the Cats Anonymous shelter are living proof that animals can be treated as our friends and relatives, with respect and care, in determined opposition to their existing status as property and disposable commodities.
