Artist's Statement:

This text continues my series of text-based projects in public spaces that present viewers with simple instructions. Whether performed or simply read, this project is aimed at subtly affecting the viewer’s emotional state according to the narrative suggested through these texts. In this way, Text for Subway frames the social moment enacted by citizens while waiting for public transit, presenting a whisper of revolution. Normally a relatively anonymous space, where eye contact is either accidental, avoided, or flirtatious, this text opens up the possibility that silent encounters could result in shared dialogues with strangers.
